Morocco offers Atlantic coast towns, mountain valleys, historic medinas and the Sahara. The challenge on a first trip is deciding what to leave out. Start with the experiences that matter most to you, then build a route that leaves enough time to enjoy each stop.
Choose a few places, then connect them sensibly
If cities and architecture interest you, consider Marrakech and Fes. If landscapes are the priority, look at the Atlas Mountains and a desert route. For slower days by the sea, add an Atlantic coast stop. Each region deserves time beyond a quick photo break.
A useful first step is to mark your arrival and departure airports, then compare the road journey between each stop. A route that looks short on a map can take much longer once mountain roads, meals and sightseeing are included.
Give your itinerary room to breathe
For a shorter visit, concentrate on one region rather than trying to cross the whole country. With more days available, it becomes easier to combine a city, a mountain experience and the desert without spending every day in transit.
Leave some unplanned time for a market visit, a long lunch or a change in weather. If a Sahara camp is a priority, check the actual drive times to the desert area before reserving your accommodation.
Think about season and comfort
Conditions vary greatly between the coast, the mountains and the desert. Check the expected temperatures for the specific places and dates you plan to visit, and pack layers if your journey covers more than one region.
Consider how you want to travel as well. A private itinerary gives you more control over stops and pace; a small group can make planning simpler and add company along the way. Ask what transport, accommodation and meals are included before you book.
Build the trip around your interests
Write down your three must-do experiences and your comfortable daily travel limit. Those two decisions make it much easier to choose between itineraries and avoid a rushed first visit.
