Morocco in 10 Days: Cities, Mountains and Desert
How to balance imperial cities, an Atlas crossing and a Sahara experience over ten days.
A ten-day route can connect Marrakech, the southeast and Fes, but the desert involves substantial road travel. Build the itinerary around overnight stops instead of treating each destination as a quick detour.
Start with a city stay
Allow at least two nights in your arrival city. This gives you time to recover from the journey, visit the medina and sort out any transport details before the longer road sections.
Cross the mountains in stages
A route through the Atlas and southeast can include kasbah landscapes and valley stops. Ask your driver or tour operator for the actual hours in the vehicle each day; distances alone do not describe mountain journeys.
Leave time after the desert
An overnight camp is only part of the desert experience. Keep room for the return journey and at least one calm day in Fes or Marrakech before flying home.
