Look closely at the product
Ask what a piece is made from, whether it is handmade and how to care for it. For larger items, confirm dimensions, shipping costs and payment arrangements in writing.
Negotiate respectfully
In some shops, prices are fixed; in others, a conversation is normal. Decide what the item is worth to you and walk away politely if you cannot agree.
